The Maine System includes the River Maine and its main tributaries, the Little Maine and the Brown Flesk. There is 26 miles of river from Castlemaine to Scartaglen.

The season starts on March 17th and permits are available from a number of outlets including Landers in Tralee, the River Island Hotel in Castleisland and Currow Post office.
The Maine system was closed for some years but opened last year and in 2013 has a quota of 1,700 fish.

The Maine still gets a good run of sea trout and the fishing in the Brown Flesk for both sea trout and salmon can be excellent after a flood. The top months for sea trout are March and April and some good fish have been recorded in recent years.

We'd love to hear from you!
