The Owenycree river flows south from near Gneevgullia and joins the Flesk downstream from Glenflesk. The Owenecree Anglers have around seven miles of fishing, rented from the riparian owners. The river is mainly a trout fishery, and the fishing is described as excellent. It is an important spawning river for trout from the lakes of Killarney. There is also salmon fishing, with the second half of August and September seen as the best time. It is considered that salmon fishing has been improving in recent years. The club does not sell permits as such, but membership of the club is open to anyone and costs only €30.
